I am currently a senior dance major at Atlantic County Institute of Technology. Upon graduation my plans are to attend University and study dance. Recently I received the state level award from NHSDA and an honorable mention for the NDEO award. I’ve been given the opportunity to teach dance at my highschool and receive a full scholarship to a summer dance intensive. My mission as a dancer is to go to college and receive all the information I can get and give back to communities in which art isn’t fairly represented. After college I hope to perform and then start my own dance business. One of my biggest values is to help out kids. I want to give kids a tool in which they can express themselves and explore. Dance is a powerful therapy and I want to make that known in areas that think less of dance.

The Governor’s Awards in Arts Education began in 1980 to promote awareness and appreciation of the arts, recognizing the creativity, talent and leadership of the award winners. Each year, awards are presented to approximately 20 educators and 80 students. National and statewide organizations select the students for their exemplary work in creative writing, speech, dance, music, theatre and visual arts and the leaders for their exceptional commitment and contribution to arts education. The program also recognizes arts educators and arts education advocates, whose leadership has helped nurture the development of students in the arts across the state.
