Geetika Komati is a senior and double bassist at Livingston High School in Livingston, NJ. She currently studies under Mr. Timothy Cobb at The Juilliard School’s Pre-College Program and is a fellow of the YOLA (Youth Orchestra Los Angeles) National Institute Program. Geetika started off her musical journey by dabbling in several instruments. In high school, she picked up the double bass and never looked back. She embraces playing a diverse variety of repertoire from classical works on the upright bass to improvised jazz on the bass guitar. Geetika is active in cultural Indian and Latin ensembles and often creates her own fusion music covers. Passionate about advocating for the accessibility and inclusivity of the arts, she also provides free music lessons with her peers to underprivileged children across the nation. When not busy with music, she can be found watching basketball, doing origami, or playing tennis. This fall, Geetika will be attending Vanderbilt University to pursue her interests in economics and music performance. She thanks her bass and orchestra teachers, as well as all of her musical mentors, for their endless support and guidance.
