Hi, I’m Heide Reeh, and I am a sophomore at Moorestown High School. Art has always been a huge part of my life, and I have been drawing since I can remember. Through the years, I’ve consistently attended art summer camps and taken advanced art classes at school. Art has also influenced my life through dance. Dance has continuously been an outlet for me to release any of my stress. I have been dancing for 13 years, and I participate in styles such as ballet/pointe, jazz, tap, and modern. Dance is a huge aspect of my life, and I don’t have time for much else. When I’m feeling less creative, I enjoy math and chemistry. I plan on studying these subjects, as well as psychology, at a college somewhere in the Northeast once I graduate high school.

The Governor’s Awards in Arts Education began in 1980 to promote awareness and appreciation of the arts, recognizing the creativity, talent and leadership of the award winners. Each year, awards are presented to approximately 20 educators and 80 students. National and statewide organizations select the students for their exemplary work in creative writing, speech, dance, music, theatre and visual arts and the leaders for their exceptional commitment and contribution to arts education. The program also recognizes arts educators and arts education advocates, whose leadership has helped nurture the development of students in the arts across the state.
