Art Educators of New Jersey – High School Scholarship Award
My name is Jillian Hauer, and I will be graduating from Steinert High School in 2020. Art wasn’t my passion until I met my art teacher, Mrs. Singleton. She saw something that I didn’t see in myself and during my freshman year, I had a piece win a county and then state level art competition, where it then went to exhibit all over the state for a year. From there, I realized art could be more than an interest. During my four years, I’ve had the honor to be a founding member of our National Art Honor Society, where I served as a Chairman, Vice-President, and President, President of Spanish Club, a member of our diversity club, and a member of Hamilton N.EW.S, a club dedicated to breaking down stereotypes between all three high schools. I’ve also received several Teen Arts County Awards, Youth Art Month County Exhibits Awards, Congressional Art Awards, and most notably, an AENJ High School Scholarship. After high school, I will be attending Arcadia University to major in Art History and minor in Art Entrepreneurship and Curatorial Studies to one day become an art museum curator.
