Kayla is currently a senior dance major at the Academy for Performing Arts High School in Union County, New Jersey, and is a company member at Dancin’ in the Spotlight. She will continue her dance education at Marymount Manhattan College in New York City with a B.F.A. in dance, with a jazz concentration, after being awarded a scholarship and automatic acceptance into the program her junior year of high school at the New York City Dance Alliance College Auditions. Through her extensive training at both the Academy for Performing Arts and Dancin’ in the Spotlight, Kayla has been presented with an abundance of opportunities and worked with and trained with numerous professionals including Travis Wall, Derrick Hough, Paula Abdul, Sheila Barker, Andy Blankenbeuhler, and Joe Lanteri, amongst a plethora of others, training in various styles including ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, contemporary, modern, Graham, Horton, musical theater, ballroom, partnering, improvisation, hip hop, West African styles, aerial silks, shadow dance, choreography, precision dance, and more. Kayla was one of two Jeffrey Capitola scholarship winners at the Rockette Summer Intensive and was a 2020 Tremaine Dance Convention Senior Dancer of the Year finalist. Alongside her dancing, Kayla is an active academic member of her school being the graduating Class of 2021’s salutatorian, student council class president, National Honor Society for Dance Arts president, and a member of both the National Honor Society and National Spanish Honor Society.
