Matt Miller is a senior at Seneca High School in Tabernacle, NJ. He began studying music with piano lessons in the 2nd grade, then alto saxophone lessons in the 4th. Through his hard work and love for music he has become a multi-instrumentalist fluent in over 10 instruments. In his first year eligible to try out, he made the All South Jersey Band and the All South Jersey Jazz Band as 1st baritone and 1st tenor saxophones respectively. Over the next five years, he also placed on saxophones, clarinets, and flute for the NJ All State Jazz Band, All South Jersey Jazz Band, NJ All State Band, All South Jersey Chamber Ensemble, and the Philly Pops High School All Star Band. Matt plays multiple instruments participating in his high school’s jazz ensemble, marching band, string orchestra, wind ensemble, and pit orchestra. Matt received the Judge’s Choice Award for improvisation on the baritone sax from Berklee College of Music in Boston, 2nd place etude performance at the Wagman Saxophone Competition at the University of the Arts, School of Music in Philadelphia, and has received multiple awards at school sponsored local and national jazz festivals. In the fall of 2021, Matt will continue to pursue his music career in performance and work towards a music education degree at the University of Arts School of Music.
